@ Through coming to grips with traditional
arts, both martial and literary, such as tea ceremony,
kendo, judo and flower arranging, students experience
and become aware of the existence of the Ôways of
humanity (morals)Õ, the right attitudes for a richer,
fuller life. These challenges act as training for
the heart and soul, in which respect for those who
have gone before, the importance of what binds each
man to his fellow man, and the value of life itself
are imparted. Students acquire at the same time
the vital sense of Japanese spirit that establishes
identity as a true member of the international community.
Japan has culture, arts and traditions
that are world-renowned. We believe that learning
and inheriting this culture is the first step in
becoming a true citizen of the world. Gaining actual
experience of JapanÕs culture is of profound importance.
Traditional rice agriculture, pottery and the tea
ceremony are incorporated as part of the schoolÕs
curriculum. These are things that cannot be mastered
in a single day, but require sustained effort over
time. We hope that students can sense the Japanese
cultural traditions of gentleness and treasuring
the importance of every moment and encounter.
