The school uses English-immersion education whereby lessons
other than Japanese are taught in English, and the daily exposure
of students to English during lessons is an assurance of sound
ability in English.
Great effort is of course also made in subjects other than English,
and the total number of classroom hours in a year is roughly
200 hours more than in the public school system, with 2-hour
classes in subjects such as Art and Music. Furthermore, a flexible
approach is adopted, with for instance short programs, depending
on subject. In particular, in Mathematics, we invite as a special
instructor the world-renowned mathematician Dr. Hironaka Heisuke
for challenging and enjoyable mathematics classes.
We also invite as a special instructor Kozuru Dai of the Agano
kiln, who is now active in the USA, for students to study pottery
and strengthen their sense of identity as Japanese, and learn
leadership skills that can be used the world over. In addition,
in our Moral Education classes, we actively pursue Ôeducation
of the spiritÕ through JapanÕs ancient traditional literary
and martial arts.
